I have officially registered for my wedding. Taylor and I went this afternoon to Target and got to walk around with our little guns while people passed us buy with that "awww" look in their eye because we were registering. I am not gonna lie. I kinda liked the attention :) But now it's done. and now you can go buy me a present! :)

Under the weather

I started feeling stuffy on the 22nd. Then of course by the 24th I was having a full blown cold. Still today the 27th I am feeling awful! This is awful!! I am coughing and sneezing and stuffy and runny and achy and BLAH! I am NOT a fan of this at all! I want to crawl in a hole and sleep until this goes away. Too bad I have to work.... Such is life I suppose!! :-/

Prayers Needed!

One of my really good friends Janine has a really good friend Jake, who I have become friends with over the 3 years I have known Janine. Jake had to be taken to the hospital on Monday because, come to find out, she had a stroke. The worst part about it is that Jake has no insurance. She has been in the Hospital all week with the Doctors running all kinds of tests on her trying to find the cause of the Stroke. They have gone through all of the normal causes of a stroke and none of the tests have come back positive. They have concluded that it is most likely Genetic. Which is good because that means she doesn't have a disease of some sort, but is also bad because that means she is just prone to having strokes which is scary! So if you would kindly say a little prayer for Jake, her husband, and her little girl I'm sure she would greatly appreciate it!

Great Story!

So some of you have already heard this story but I have to post it. Ok! So, on Monday night Taylor, Kyla, and I put up the Christmas decorations at Taylor's apartment. Taylor had gotten it all out of storage and I started to unpack some of it and put the little figurine type things out while Kyla finished eating. Well of course because she is 4 she wasn't finishing eating and was over by me watching me unpack stuff. So I got to this snowman that Taylor has that has some cute little buttons and a scarf and he is kinda looking up into the air and then around his head is a snow glob. So when you shake the snow glob it looks like he is looking up at the snow falling on his face. So I am unpacking him and fixing his scarf and Kyla says "Oh! Is he going to the moon?!?" I could help but just bust out laughing! She is so funny! I never would have thought of that if she had never said anything. So now every time I look at the snowman I just kind of giggle. Silly Kyla!

To Catch you up...

My my my... it has been such a crazy week! Let's see, where to start. Ok, so Monday I had a Physics test, then Tuesday I had school like normal except for one of my classes I had to go to the elementary and teach a P.E. Class, then Wednesday I had school then off to Saltgrass to work. Then came Thursday, First Taylor and I had to go and get Kyla from Allen around 10:00, then we went all the way to Lucas, TX to visit with Taylor's biological dad and that side of the family until about 12:30 then we went to Taylors mom's house back in Plano for our first round of turkey dinner and hung out there until about 4:00. Then we headed to Highland Village to have our second round of turkey dinner with my side of the family. We ate there and hung out until about 8:15ish and then we had to take Kyla back to Allen and then drive ourselves back to Plano. Over all we had a WONDERFUL day and LOTS of WONDERFUL food to eat! Kyla probably saw more people than she has seen in her lifetime :) but she was very good! Then Friday, Taylor and I both worked all day at Saltgrass he was in the bar all day, and I was on the floor for lunch and in the Bar for Dinner. It was crazy but we made some money. Then today both of us aren't working this morning but we are both working tonight. Then tomorrow he will work the morning in the bar and I will work all day on the floor. Then he gets Monday off and I have school. Like I said a crazy week. I hope everyone had a wonderful wonderful Turkey day!

Count your blessings

I was driving home from school today and everything was going smooth until two motorcycle cops came flying on the highway. Then next came a hearse and a limo following that. It kinda made me sad so then as they got all the way over to the H.O.V. lane I passed by. As I passed I noticed that the coffin inside the hearse had an America flag laid over it. It made me think about how blessed I am to live in the country I do. Men and women go and give their lives so I can live comfortably and happily with all the freedoms I have been promised. I know many people who are the men that have given their time, and I am very lucky to not have lost any of them. So today I count my blessings that the good Lord has been given me!

Swimming

Kyla has been taking swim lessons. And guess what?!?!? She is actually learning something! :) I know that may not be too surprising because she is such a smart girl but swimming was not her forte. She loves to be in the water but as soon as you try and get her to be on her own she freaked. She was not a fan at all! But she has done really well with her lessons. So at her lesson on Monday I took pictures and some video for you all to enjoy!

She's swimming!!!

She doesn't float well by herself. She is a sinker.

Again swimming!! (She is practicing BIG arms!)

I told her to make a funny face and that is what I got!

Earrings

So Kyla had her ears pierced when she was a little baby. Then when she was about 2 1/2ish she was wearing some tinkerbell earrings that were really cheap and her ear grew over the back of it... this was not good because in order to make things better a big chunk of her ear had to come off. So then she never wanted anyone to come withing 5 ft of her ears. This morning I saw a little piece of skin on one of her ears so I took the opportunity to be sneaky. I took out one of my earrings and was "getting the skin off" and then pop! I got it to go through her ear! So then she as so excited that she wanted me to do the other one! The second one was a little harder and it hurt her a little but it was fine! So today she got to wear a pair of my earrings to school and I went and got her some of her own that she can wear and I had to make sure they were sterling silver because she has sensitive earrings. I taught her to turn them three times so that the skin won't grow over the back. She is VERY excited and so am I!! Also, this gives another possibility for presents!!! I will have to get a picture of her with her cute earrings to post on here!

Why I am the way I am

I have always ALWAYS been proud of the fact that I am very much so like my mother. I look a lot like her, I talk like her, I get my emotionalness (is that a word?) from her, and I get my hard parenting from her... Since I have been a little more involved in Kyla's life I have had more exposure to parenting, and I have found that I am not very good with being sensitive. For instance, when Kyla falls and hurts herself but she didn't really cut herself or anything severe I tend to tell her just to shake it off because she is fine. Today I learned why that is... I called my mom this morning because I woke up and I blew my nose and there was some blood streaked in what came out of my nose. I haven't been feeling very good so I knew it would probably be discolored or something gross but the blood caught me off guard. So I called my mom to get her input. She told me I probably shouldn't go to work if I didn't feel up to it. Then she proceeds to tell me that if I was going to be home all day could I empty the dishwasher..... SERIOUSLY??? I call you because there is blood in my snot and you ask me to empty the dishwasher? I gave her a hard time about it and she said well, that is the way I was raised too... :) I know she means well and she obviously has raise four wonderful children it is just funny to see where I came from!

Thursday, November 13, 2008

You know what I just hate...

When only ONE side of your nose is stuffed up! It is even worse than both sides being stuffed up. And when your nose is stuffed but it still runs like crazy... that just doesn't make any sense!!!! I want to remove my nose at this point! Please make it go away. I feel like I've been hit by a train and apparently I look like it too... the first thing Travis said to me when he walked in the door was "wow, are you sick? Cause you sure look like it".... Thanks T that was sweet. Anyway, I am done complaining about my sickness....have a wonderful night!

Monday, November 10, 2008

I know it is early..

But my heart has been in a very giving mood lately. I just can't seem to stop myself! I am always the first to complain that people are starting too early. I am almost completely done with all of it. I know I should leave some of it for later, but I can't stop myself. The feeling has overcome my heart. Sometimes you just have to let it go and get it done early and be so happy because it is done! My heart won and so I have to admit all my Christmas shopping is done!

Ever wonder what your dogs do when you aren't home?

So every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday my mom and Travis leave for work and school (respectively) at about 7:45 in the morning. No matter if I want to sleep in or not I am always up around this time (8:00) because the dogs do this...

**WARNING** There is no picture to this video it is just darkness, the purpose is for you to listen to the sound.

I wish I could get around the corner and actually get them on video but as soon as I turn the corner they stop howling (Hence why the video is just darkness...). It is like they don't know I am here and they are so sad that no one is home and they have been left that they just howl and howl and howl. It is kind of funny but mostly it drives me crazy because I WANNA SLEEP!!!

Halloween (2 Days Late..)

Here is the ONE picture that actually came out decent from Halloween. Luckily it is of Ky so it is a good one! I have one of me and her together but it is just really gross lighting and it doesn't look that good.. I would have taken more but the baby is AGAIN sick with Croups Cough.... So we didn't stay out very long and when we did get home she was VERY sweaty and VERY tired and NOT in the mood for pictures so I did the best I could. Over all though Halloween was fun! Kyla had a great time and got LOTS of candy!

Yeah it didn't get any better...

I still didn't get any sleep. I probably got a total of two and a half hours of sleep last night and non of it was continuous. I am so so so so so so so sleepy! I just wish I could crawl into my bed right now. But no of course I can't I have school until 5:00 :( So sad for this girl! Anyway just was giving you an update. I'm gonna take a Tylenol PM tonight and sleep forever!!!!!! It will be wonderful! Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!!!

I despise sleepless nights!

I have been laying in bed for almost an hour and a half now, and I don't even feel a little tired. Why does this happen? I need sleep more than ever and I can't get all the thoughts and to do lists out of my head long enough to settle down and sleep. I just wish I could sleep!! So, I will try and do some of the things on my to do lists and see if that calms me down enough... hopefully it will.... I will keep you posted!

I'm So Proud!!

Taylor has been working on losing weigh lately and from the 4th of October he has lost 11.2 lbs. I am so stinkin proud of him!!! He has said before that he wanted to loose weight for our wedding but I never really thought anything of it. But he is serious! He really is doing it and he is doing a darn good job at it too! I can't even begin to say how proud I am of my Honey!!!

A day to start saving

For some reason today I have been inspired to do everything possible to save some money. I went online and have sold one of my old text books for $34.00 and I still have a couple of good ones at my mom's house I can sell. Hopefully I will get some good money for those too. Also I have decided that I am going to try and keep about $100.00 a month for things like Christmas (which still will be a very non-impressive Christmas I apologize in advance) and my Wedding. I try to do my best saving money with coupons and buying things on sale but I feel like I still never have money for things I want to buy. So I have decided to make things happen and I'm gonna do it! I am tired of stressing about money... So now I will do something about it!

**UPDATE**I went home and sold more books... Total Sales $126.61!!!! Go me! I'm so excited right now. Granted I probably spent $1000.00 buying all of these books, but I am going to focus on the $126 coming into my pocket and not focus on the fact that I am actually $-900. Christmas is looking up people you should be excited!!

Sometimes you just have to stop and thank Him

I was driving the other day and just happened to have my camera with me and I decided to take a picture of what I was looking at. There is darkness on one side but it leads to light...

Sometimes it just takes my breath away, how amazing this world can be. Then it frustrates me how easily you can get wrapped up in all of this worldly mess in front of you. But He always seems to find a way to show you He is still there and He still cares. No matter if it is an act or just putting a beautiful skyline in front of you, He will find a way to remind you He still loves you and He isn't going anywhere.

Loop, Swoop, and Pull

Kyla and I have been practicing tying her shoes, and we haven't really done it a whole lot but just when I remember... Today, she tied her shoe all by herself! I was so proud of her. She still has a hard time tying her right one, I think it's hard for her to get her hands in the right place. But her left one she did it!!! She didn't hesitate at all!! I was so proud of her!!! She is growing up so fast! :)

I got a good one!

So it is a little late. But this Saturday at work I was back in the office talking to my manager Tim, while waiting for Taylor to finish his closing duties. Tim was counting the Bar's Cash drawer, and I noticed the huge stack of credit cards that have been left at Saltgrass. I asked Tim if they just keep the credit cards for ever or what they do with the things because I feel like they just multiply and the stack never gets smaller. He told me they keep them for 6 months, so I picked up the stack and started going through and picking out the ones that they had that were expired and was putting them down in front of Tim. So he started cutting up the ones that were expired and then got tried of doing that so he was like ok put them down. But I, of course, kept going just to get on his nerves. So then he acted like he was going to cut my apron and I didn't know what he was doing to I quickly put my hand down and.. RIGHT IN THE SCISSORS!!! OUCH!! I grabbed my finger and started jumping around and then Tim asked did I get you? What it felt like to me was a bone on bone so I just opened my hand to show him and there was a pool of blood! YIKES! So my finger just kept bleeding and bleeding and bleeding, So then Tim started putting band-aid after band-aid on my finger and it just kept bleeding. So I went out to show Taylor and he basically just told me to suck it up. But I really thought it was worse than Taylor made it out to be. So, Taylor finished and as we started walking to our cars I asked him if he thought I should go to the ER. He said well what do you think? With all of your experience and knowledge would you tell someone to go to the ER? I said yes. So he was like UGH ok lets go rinse it at home and make a final decision. So we did. and I called my mom and she said that she thought I should. So I went in the house and took of the 7 layers of band-aids and found that my finger had bleed through all 7 layers. So I tried to wipe it off a little and just really decided that I needed to go to the ER. So I told Taylor and we changed and off we went. Taylor had called Tim to tell him and see if we couldn't get Saltgrass to pay for the visit but Tim said it would be way too much of a hassle to do that and that he would just pay out of pocket since it was his fault. So we got to the ER and signed it and were quickly pulled back. After 45 min. of waiting in a room with no light turned on the RN came in and then the PA showed up. They decided that I needed stitches and since I couldn't decide if I had my tetanus shot in the past 10 years they had to get me one of those too.... So we waited for all kinds of things but, when all was said and done I Laura Cannon Piland had to get 5 stitches in my finger (and I watched them stitch me...It was AWESOME!!) and the cut is right at the top knuckle of my left ring finger so I have to wear a splint to keep it straight so I don't tear the stitches out. I wanted to put up pictures but I didn't want to offend or gross anyone out. So if you are a freak like me and wanna see it I will send them to you.

I'm alive!!

I am so sorry that I haven't posted lately. I have so much crazy stuff going on right now that I just don't seem to have time. Right now I am sitting in the PEB (the building where all of my Kinesiology classes are) and using my lap top to find wonderful things and catch up on my life. I didn't have my 12 o'clock class today because my teacher is Jewish and today is Yom Kippur. So she cancelled class. HOORAY FOR JEWISH TEACHERS!! :) Anyway, so I was sitting here and I realized that I hadn't blogged on here in ages. I can't even begin to tell you all that has happened since I have blogged last so I won't even try. But I promise to make a better effort at keeping up! I hope everyone is having a great day!!!

My life in a Song

Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away
Everything that you've always dreamed of
Close enough for you to taste
But you just can't touch
You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in loveIt's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time
You believe and you doubt
You're confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew
You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time
When you can't wait any longer
But there's no end in sight when you need to find the strength
It's the faith that makes you stronger
The only way you get there
Is one step at a time

Grad School

So if you didn't know.... I have applied to the UNT Kinesiology Masters program as a back up if I do not get into Physical Therapy School. I have been accepted!!! I know it really isn't that difficult to be accepted into a Masters Program and especially the one that you went through undergrad but I suppose it is an acceptance so I should be happy. It also means that if worst comes to worst (I don't get into PT School) I do have an option. While it will push my whole life back a year... at least I have a plan right? AND I can say I have my BS, my MS, and my DPT! I feel so smart sometimes when I think about my schooling! Anyway, thought I would keep you updated! GO MEAN GREEN!! :)

I WANT an airplane!!!!!!!!

I volunteered for this event called Challenge Air. It is an event for children with disabilities. Pilots volunteer their time and their planes and take children with disabilities up for a flight and depending on their disability they get to fly the plane as well. So I was there for some hours for my Movements of Special Populations Class and my group did a face painting booth for the children. It was SOOO much fun! What made it the most fun is that I got to go up in an airplane too!!!! AND I GOT TO FLY IT!!!! It was one of the coolest experiences EVER! I loved it and now.... I WANT an airplane!

This is the plane I got to fly... It is a torpedo. I would like one of these!!!

September 11th

I was listening to the radio this morning and as you all know I am very emotional about everything. But today they were reading a letter someone wrote about September 11th and they were talking about all of the promises we made on that day. And a lot of them really did hit close to home because even though I was only a Sophomore in High School when the tragedy happened I do remember making promises to myself about what I would do better in the future and what I would work on in my life. Some of the stuff that they mentioned were things like promising to hold your loved ones a little longer when hugging them good-bye and not going to bed angry at your loved ones and no getting angry at the little things in life but embracing the good times and holding on to the joys. Or maybe calling a friend you haven't talked to in a while and make sure all is going well with them. It is a tough thing to do daily but today is a good reminder to put your life into perspective and look at the wonderful things that God had given you and all the wonderful times. I know today I am very thankful that all of my family is safe and healthy and happy. I am so blessed with the people I have been surrounded by in my life. I again promise to try harder to make that extra effort in my life and to take life a little lighter and to take in all the joy that I am surrounded by.

Thank you Jesus for all of the heroes in our lives and for giving them the strength and courage to protect us in times of need. Especially today I thank you for those whose lives were taking on September 11, 2001 and all the blessings they provided the people in their lives. Hold their loved ones close today and remind them that they are loved and safe. Thank you for all you provide me with and all of my blessings. Amen

I LOVE COOL MOM PICKS!

I know I'm not really a "mom" but I am definitely cool so I figure I am allowed to read the Cool "Mom" Picks blog and I really like some of the stuff that is on the blog for sure!! Recently they put up a web-site called ilunchbox.com Mostly it is freaking awesome! I love it!! It has all kinds of stuff you can make with your kids and what a good portion for kids are and all kinds of stuff like that! I think I am a total nerd for thinking that this type of thing is cool so don't feel bad if in your head right now you are saying "Laura you are a total nerd". It is fine I accept it! Anyway if you have children or even if you are like me and you just play mom and haven't ever had the "true" experience of a mom you should check it out. It is a fun web-site!

Taylor My Love

I love Taylor. So very much! I don't have one particular reason for saying this at the time I just do. Anytime I think about him or see him I still get giddy! I just love him so much!!!

I need a hair cut...

But my Cindy isn't cutting hair anymore. Where do I go? What do I do? Any suggestions?

When

When do you stop fighting a battle? A battle that you fight daily and you know you need to resolve but you just can't seem to come to an agreement? When do you just give up and say fine. You win. And let your feelings go? When is it time or is there a time. Is it something that I will have to fight daily for the rest of my life? I hope not!

Physical Therapy

So I turned in my Physical Therapy application yesterday. It was actually a horrid experience becasuse I was sent ALL over the TWU campus trying to find the stupid lady to turn it into. And once I finally did find her I gave it to her and she checked to make sure everything was there, and then we started to chat a little about my application and we got on to the topic of my GRE score(which if you don't know I did HORRIBLE on) and she told me AND I QUOTE that "your chances of getting in are slim". Talk about bringing a sister down a couple of notches. Well, needless to say I pretty much cried on and off for the rest of the day thinking about it. But, I am trying to stay positive even though she is the lady who starts off the applications for being reviewed. I am hoping that all of the people that have better applications than me decide they don't want to be a PT so I can get in. Worst comes to worst I will start my Masters in Kinesiology this coming spring and will be working on that while I wait ANOTHER YEAR to re-apply and then ANOTHER YEAR from then to start PT school (If I get in the second time). So at this time the future for Laura and PT will not start until 2010 if the lady is right. We will have to see though. Say a little prayer or if you are feeling sweet maybe a BIG prayer for me.

Ah the good old days

Lastnight Taylor, Kyla, and I went over to Taylor's parents to just hang out for a little bit. Kyla's baby cousin was over there and some other people. So when they were leaving we all went outside to say goodbye. While we were out there Kyla and I saw Fireflies lighting up. I was holding Kyla and I was telling her how I used to catch fireflies with my brothers and sisters at my great grandmas house. She was not that interested in my story and did her best to pay attention. So we finished saying goodbye and we went back inside and I started looking for a jar. Well of course Ginger didn't have any jars, but she did have a container that I brought over there a while ago. So I got that and I poked holes in the lid and I took Kyla outside and we started looking for fireflies. It was so much fun to see her get so excited about seeing one. I kept telling her to keep her eyes open. And she would respond with "well I have to blink sometimes!" She is so funny. Anyway it was so fun to run up and down the street with her and chase the fireflies around and just watch her get so excited. In the end we caught four of them and we brought them inside while we ate some dinner then it was time to let them go so they could go back to their families. Kyla didn't like that. She cried. I asked her why she was crying and she said "I just really liked my firefly friends. I didn't want to see them go." After some logic about how they have to go to their families and how she wouldn't like it if someone caught her and never let her go back to her family she said a very sad good-bye to them and we went back inside. We had a wonderful time chasing the fireflies around and it was a good reminder of the good old days!

So fresh and so clean clean!

If anyone knows me you know I am OBSESSED with keeping my car clean. Lately I have been angry with my car because it didn't have Air Conditioner. But, I recently was able to get that fixed! YAY!! (a month and a half of Texas summer heat with no AC in your car is not fun!) So since my relationship with my car has been rekindled I decided to get it washed. It was a MUCH MUCH MUCH needed wash. But now my car is so clean and is so happy and that makes me so happy! I miss the days that I got my car washed every month and it got detailed every year. One fine day I will be able to treat my car better until then I will be so happy with my clean and cool car!

Flowers

Kyla, Taylor, and I got my mom some roses for her birthday and on the plastic that they were in it said "Premium Roses" and I was messing with my mom when I gave them to her and I was telling her that they were gonna be good ones becasue they were "Premium". So we kinda laughed about that for a little bit. But now since she has had them for a couple of days they really do look Premium. They are totally beautiful. It could have something to do with the fact that she is a fabulous flower arranger... but they are gorgeous.

Mushrooms?

So since we have had an extreme amount of rain lately my moms backyard has turned into a mushroom field. I personally think it is kinda cool! Take a look!

Sea World!!

Taylor, Kyla, and I went to San Antonio this past weekend. It was an absolute blast, as well as a MUCH needed get away for Taylor and me! Kyla was so excited to go and she had a wonderful time! She was a very well behaved little girl and we did the best to reward her a long the way.

This is Kyla on the morning that we left.
(Yes I know her piggy tails aren't straight)
This is her about an hour away from the hotel. She just couldn't hold out...

This is Taylor and I about to arrive at the Hotel!

Then once we got to the hotel and got settled in we all freshened up and got ready and we went to Rainforest Cafe! This was a wonderful experience for Kyla. Taylor and I had a rough go. I had a fly in my drink and the service just wasn't that good. But Kyla doesn't know any better and she LOVED all the animals and the pretend thunderstorms! That's all that matters!!

This is Kyla. I am finishing getting ready and I go to get my shoes and can't find them....

The Tiger was my favorite!

And then Saturday came and it was time for Sea World! It was a perfect day pretty much. It was mostly overcast and it got a bit hot towards the middle of the day but it wasn't horrible at all! Kyla had a wonderful time and Taylor and I had a wonderful time watching her have a wonderful time.
